Exam Stress – How to Cope on the day

Exam time can be extremely stressful for students and parents alike. Our stress expert Karen Belshaw explains that stress on the day can often turn to negative thoughts of panic. Step 1, according to Karen, is to step back and realize these nervous feelings are very normal. Next taking deep breaths will calm the body and allow you to think more clearly and finally try to recognize that these feelings are not always a bad thing and some of nervous energy can become the adrenalin you will need to get through a long exam! Karen also gives great tips for parents in the run up to the big day!

Food Supplements

Food supplements are all over the supermarket shelves, but which ones are best? Dietician Nuala Collins tells us that FOOD is best. We should all aim to get ours and our children’s allowances of nutrition from food first before resorting to taking supplements! While Nuala disparages the suggestion that Fish Oil supplements increase a child’s IQ, they are good for the heart and so she suggests that homemade salmon nuggets are a great way to get your kids to eat healthy oily fish!
