Relationships and marriages can be very prone to stress as we tend to use our partners as sounding boards for stressful situations in our lives. Stress counsellor, Karen Belshaw, recommends using ‘The Ladder Scale’ and knowing that if you are near the top of your own stress ladder and being very emotional and irrational then the best thing to do is to come back down to the bottom of the ladder, take time out, talk calmly, listen rather than talk and stick to the facts rather than argue emotions!
